    Programs

The company has performed over 2,000 programs for audiences exceeding 300,000 people since its official 1989 debut. Like most national companies, the National Tap Ensemble has a double-faceted mission.

bulletCONCERT/FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES
The company performs three different theater/concert/festival shows on major stages, always involving live music.  The repertoire features a body of works that is still relatively unknown but quite extensive, with sixteen composographers (i.e. "tap choreographers") and half a dozen styles being represented. The research and development of this vast and rich repertoire is one of the most fascinating and important developments in American dance today.
bulletEDUCATION
The company offers over twenty different educational programs, and currently dedicates over two-thirds of its resources to cultural, social and historical enlightenment.  These programs were developed over the years as a direct response to needs expressed by tap dancers, various communities, school teachers, and the public at large.  They celebrate the American spirit and highlight the legacy of the great African-American pioneers of tap dance and jazz music. NTE's educational programs are accredited by over twenty Arts In Education institutions nationwide and serve audiences ranging  from well-to-do communities to the most disadvantaged and disenfranchised areas. The company has also developed a wide range of Preferred Education Partners among Universities, arts-oriented and forward-thinking cities, private dance schools, etc.
